Fr. Mark's Weekly Homilies

June 26, 2011 - Corpus Christi Sunday

My Dear People,

Why Our Lord would be so merciful and so generous as to leave us His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity for our ongoing sanctification is a complete mystery. When Jesus first taught His disciples, "Unless you eat my Body and drink my Blood, you will have NO life in you" many left Him. He turned to Peter and the Apostles and asked if they were leaving as well. Peter speaks up and says, "Lord to whom shall we go; You have the words of everlasting life." Our first Pope speaks for all of us in the declaration. What other denomination, what other faith can we go to, to find our Eucharistic Lord? And yet today, in all of our families we find parents, siblings, cousins and friends abandoning the Eucharist in search of something better. These apostates are no different that the first disciples who abandoned Our Eucharistic Lord in search for "greener" pastures. Do not stop praying for the lost sheep. Jesus longs for their return. Pray for your conversion and theirs that we might always seek Him in the Holy Eucharist!

Entrusting you to the care of Our Lady,
Fr. Mark

May we always be merciful and generous to His Body and Blood.

June 19, 2011 - Most Holy Trinity Sunday

My Dear People,

The mystery of the most Holy Trinity is beyond our understanding. We need to ask Our Lord for the grace to embrace this sacred mystery. St. Maxilmillian Kolbe describes the whole life of Our Blessed Mother as existing totally within the Divine Fire of the Holy Trinity. This same "Fire" came to rest on each of the Apostles on Pentecost, the birthday of our Church. What better way to contemplate the sacredness of the Trinity than with Mary's help. She was conceived there. She developed there. She remains there to this very day. It is no wonder that the Catechism teaches us that we come to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of His Mother. O Blessed Virgin, reach out to us, poor banished children of Eve. Teach us to love the Holy Trinity. Fill us with their Divine Fire. Lead us on the path that brings us into our Heavenly Home. Keep us free form all harm and evil. And deliver us into the Heart of your Son Jesus Christ.

Entrusting you to the care of Our Lady,
Fr. Mark

May we always long for the Holy Spirit, for only in Him shall we find true PEACE.

June 12, 2011 - Pentecost Sunday

My Dear People,

Pentecost is the birthday of the Catholic Church. In a beautiful cenacle of prayer. Mary and the Apostles were gathered in the upper room for fear of the Jews. Suddenly a roar, that sounded like a wind rushing from the heavens, filled the entire room, and tongues of "Fire" fell upon them. Jesus had promised to send the Advocate, the third person of the Holy Trinity. At Pentecost, Jesus makes good on His promise, Now, filled with great courage and zeal, St. Peter emerges a new man. The infusion of the mystical gifts of the Holy Spirit allowed St. Peter to speak in his native tongue, and yet all understood him in their own language. Many came to be baptized, and were repentant of their sins. The Apostles then went forth to preach and teach the Good News of the Kingdom of God to all the nations. We are all beneficiaries of that grace. Not only are we sealed with the Holy Spirit, but we are endowed with His power. What a great grace! Live always in the power of the Most Holy Spirit.

Entrusting you to the care of Our Lady,
Fr. Mark

As we always long for the Holy Spirit, for only in Him shall we find true peace.

June 5, 2011 - Ascension of Our Lord

My Dear People,

Forty days after the Resurrection of Our Lord, Jesus returned to the right hand of the Father. As He leaves His Disciples, the angels ask them, "Men of Galilee, why are you looking at the sky? Jesus has been taken into the heavens, and will return in the same way that He left". In the mean time, the Apostles were to preach and teach in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and to baptize all nations in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This command to evangelize and baptize in the Lord's Holy Name continues today. We long for the return of Jesus. We hope for the coming of the Kingdom. We pray for His Heavenly Peace. Very few people living today would argue the fact that we live in an evil age. God's Law has been supplanted with man's law. this has caused our chaos, and the multiplication of our sin. Only Jesus can remedy this trend. We cannot fix ourselves, or our world. It will take Jesus Christ, Redeemer and King, to complete the mission. And so the Church cries out "Marantha", Come Lord Jesus Come!

Entrusting you to the care of Our Lady,
Fr. Mark

As we always be good stewards of our time and talents; especially in reaching out to our brothers and sisters in foreign lands.
